Many factors affect the flavor of the tea in

your cup, such as plant varietal, soil condition,

seasonal weather patterns, altitude,

care taken of the plants, processes used in

harvesting, drying and shaping the leaves,

and the care taken in packaging and storing

the final product.

 

 

Growing Regions of Tea

 

 

Tea is grown in almost every country in the world, but the major tea growing areas for specialty teas are China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Taiwan,  Africa and Korea. Each area boasts many, many types of teas with multiple taste profiles, so trying to summarize teas from a particular area is difficult, if not impossible! With that in mind, here is but a brief overview of the types of tea profiles most often associated with these countries:
